According to the cooling rate of cylinder forgings after forging, there are three cooling methods for cylinder forgings: cooling in air, which is faster; cooling in a pit (box), which is slower, and cooling in furnace, which is the slowest.

Cool in the furnace

After forging, the cylinder forgings are directly loaded into the furnace and cooled slowly according to certain cooling specifications. Because the furnace cooling can accurately achieve the specified cooling rate by controlling the furnace temperature, it is suitable for post-forging cooling of high alloy steel, special steel cylinder forgings and various large cylinder forgings. Generally, the temperature of forgings when entering the furnace should not be lower than 600-650 degree , and the furnace temperature during charging should be equivalent to the temperature of human forgings. Commonly used cooling specifications are isothermal cooling and undulating isothermal cooling.
